Laboratories: Biomaterials

The biomaterials lab includes a CLASS II cell culture lab, optical and fluorescence microscope, and specialized equipment for measuring cell adhesion. We also have resources for studying nanoparticles and their interactions with normal and diseased cells.

The optical and fluorescence microscopes still remain as the key tools for imaging materials phenomena in biological cells and biomaterials. We also have access to confocal microscopes and high resolution scanning/transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM) and focused ion beam (FIB) microscopy.
Professor Soboyejo in BioLab
Here is Professor Soboyejo in the BioLab. He is next to the biological hood that is used in ongoing studies of cell/surface interactions and nanomaterials interactions with biological cells. These studies are providing new tools for the detection and treatment of cancer. For more information see the USAMI News Article.
