Laboratories: Nanomaterials
The nanomaterials lab has state-of-the-art capabilities in nanoindentation and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Our facilities include a Hysitron Triboindenter system and a Digital AFM system with integrated force microscopy and scratch testing capabilities.

- This is a digital atomic force microscope (AFM) It is currently used in studies of surface topography evolution, adhesion and nano-scale wear. The AFM is also used to characterize material pile-up during nanoindentation.

- This second AFM is used largely for friction force characterization of surfaces with well controlled nano-scale surface topographies and chemistries.
