Programs: Materials for Affordable Housing

A holistic approach is being explored for the design of affordable housing. This includes considerations of urban/rural design using fractal concept/crystallography; natural fiber-reinforcement of earth and cementitious materials and cost modeling

Fractal-based architecture
The basic concepts of fractals and crystallography are being adapted to the design of urban and rural communities in which single centers are being replaced with distributed centers that enhance the flow of human/vehicular traffic and commercial/social activities.
Rainwater Harvesting
Alternative eco-friendly building materials and material cost modeling are being combined with energy and infrastructure cost modeling and rainwater harvesting/purification to produce a holistic framework for the design of affordable housing.
